Hurricane Irene Project

Critical Thinking Questions.

1) What time of the year do Hurricanes occur? Why do they only happen during that time?

Hurricanes only occur in summer because, that's the only time of the year when Warm water forms in the Ocean and hurricane can get in touch with it.

2) How can the timing of the tides (high or low) effect the devastation of a hurricane?

If a Hurricane form during High tide, causing the Water level of the ocean to raise extra high, and that would lead the devastation of the Hurricane to be more powerful while during the Low tide, the Ocean level wouldn’t raise that high and the devastation of Hurricane would be less powerful.

3) If an area is fully saturated, will a hurricane have more or less impact on an area?

A fully saturated area would have less impact from Hurricane due to the absence of Warm water.

4) How does groundwater saturation affect rivers and streams?

Ground water saturation can cause the water level of rivers and streams to rise over time. That can cause Flooding.

Reflection.

1)    What is something you liked about this Mini-Project?

I liked “Your Task”, that's based on our topics.

2)    What was difficult for you on this project?

The most difficult thing I’ve encountered during this project is to answer the critical thinking questions.

3)    What would you change about your work on this project?

I would change the way I’ve presented my topic to my fellow classmates. I’d like to be more professional.

4)    How did this project help you learn about Hurricane Irene?

This project helped me to learn what causes hurricanes, why do hurricanes occur etc.
